This section is for you to add your backpacking tips. The best one's will make into this sticky post for all to read. :)

TOP TIPS

1. Never overpack. It's too easy to clutter yourself with unecissary stuff which you'll hardly ever use. Don't forget you can buy what you need as you go, this even goes for larger items such as tents.

2. If you're using travellers cheques, make sure you get American Dollars as there are many countries that won't change anything else!

3. Probably an obvious one, but never hesitate to get advice off fellow travellers, they are your No.1 source of good info. Most of what I've done to date, has been down to asking others what the best things to go and see are.

Don't let that stop you from going and discovering things for yourself though.

OTHER USEFUL TIPS

1. Moisture wipes!

If you can bare the extra weight, a few packs of these things will sort you out when you can't be botherd to wash properly, or you just want to freshen up if you're on a long journey or something. I can't recommend these things enough!

2. Never plan ahead! Personal experience has told me, that there's no better buzz turning up in a foreign country, with nowhere booked to stay, no idea of where you are, or what to do.

It may sounds a little cavalier, but trust me it makes life much more exciting when you haven't got a clue where you'll end up next. :)

Thread updated. :)

I've decided to include all tips if I can in the first post. There are the 'top tips' and then there are the 'other useful tips' sections.

I think the difference will be, the top tips are the ones which will make travelling much better/easier. While the others will prove useful.
