This is a place I always tell people about, I felt very privileged to visit it so shortly after it started to become popular. That's not to say it isn't still quiet now, I honestly don't know, but most the locals assured me it was going to get very busy because of it's unique position. It's on the most southern part of the Great Barrier Reef, and there's no stingers there! It's a beautiful place with some wonderful nature reserves in it's own right anyway.

Also, if you go there you should stop at Cool Bananas (There was only one other hostel there at the time, which I'm sure is also great), Greg the owner is a wonderful chap, and his enthusiasm for the town is positively infectious.

There's much more, but I dont want to give away all it's secrets at once. ;)

Oh BTW, found a link to the cool bananas web site. I haven't been there in a long time, but if Greg is still running the place, I'm sure it's just as brilliant as it was when I was there.
